  Nº publicación US2021309961A1 07/10/2021
  Solicitantes VIVAX BIO LLC [US]
Resumen Current invention relates to biotechnology sphere and particularly describes the novel approach for non-attached
biofilm-like aggregates fabrication in vitro under artificial microgravity environment conditions. Non-attached
aggregates are grown under magnetic levitation conditions achieved by placing microorganisms suspension in
paramagnetic nutrient medium in inhomogeneous magnetic field created by specifically developed permanent
magnets. The invention method can produce biofilm-like aggregates from protozoa, fungi, microalgae, Gram-positive
or Gram-negative bacteria and/or a consortium. The presented technology can be used for development of
medications for treatment of chronic infections, antiseptics and solutions for surfaces, as well as in other applications
requiring the use of non-attached biofilm-like aggregates model.

  Solicitantes LANZATECH INC [US]
Resumen The disclosure provides methods and systems to produce lipid
products from a gaseous substrate using a two-stage
fermentation process. The method comprises providing a
gaseous substrate comprising CO, CO2 or H2 or mixtures
thereof, to a first bioreactor containing a culture or one or more
microorganisms and fermenting the substrate to produce
acetate. The acetate from the first bioreactor is then provided to

Use of microalgae extracellular metabolites for preparing biofuel cells which has low AC impedance and can improve the power
   density performance
  Nº publicación TW202123520A 16/06/2021
  Solicitantes UNIV NAT ILAN [TW]
Resumen The present invention first extracts the extracellular metabolites of microalgae after several days of culture, and
explores whether they contain antioxidant substances, which can be converted into reversible electronic shuttle (ES)
active components. By using electrochemical cyclic voltammetry, it is found that the microalgae extracellular
metabolites do have reversible electronic shuttles with electrochemical characteristics. And, in the evaluation result of
microbial fuel cells (MFC), it is further found that the microalgae extracellular metabolites have the effect of generating
electrochemical electron mediation, which can effectively reduce the AC impedance and improve the power density
                 performance of biological electricity generation.

Resumen Methods for obtaining an aqueous extract of a microalgae
Dunaliella salina cultivated in the absence of light in a culture
medium of a yeast extract, sugar and salt include solubilising a

NOVEL VIOLAXANTHIN-OVERPRODUCING STRAIN OF CHLORELLA VULGARIS AND THE METHOD FOR PRODUCING
   VIOLAXANTHIN USING THE SAME
  Nº publicación US2021246414A1 12/08/2021
  Solicitantes IUCF HYU [KR]
Resumen The present invention relates to a novel
violaxanthin-overproducing strain of Chlorella vulgaris and a
method of producing violaxanthin therefrom. The inventors
have developed a strain that produces violaxanthin at a
significantly higher level than a wild-type strain by inducing a
random chemical mutation in a Chlorella vulgaris strain to, and
then as a result of analysis, confirmed that the strain produces
violaxanthin up to 0.41% based on dry weight, which reaches
the highest level that is possible to be produced in microalgae.
Furthermore, as a method of effectively extracting a carotenoid
pigment containing violaxanthin from the strain was
established, since the strain and the developed pigment
extraction method according to the present invention allow
effective production and separation of violaxanthin, the strain is
expected to increase commercial applications such as
cosmetics, health functional foods and feed.

Microalgal biosensor for HTF detection (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
  Nº publicación ES2846473A1 28/07/2021
  Solicitantes ACCIONA ENERGIA SA [ES]
Resumen Microalgal biosensor for the detection of HTF. Biosensor for the detection of HTF comprising a biosensor formed by a
population of microalgae and a signal transduction system configured to measure the fluorescence emitted by the
population of microalgae. The decrease in the fluorescence emitted by the microalgae in the presence of a sample
would indicate the presence of HTF in it. Depending on the fluorescence values obtained, it is possible to quantify the
amount of HTF in the sample. The invention therefore also relates to the use of the biosensor and to the method for
the detection of HTF. (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
