The Wzrd debuts new style
Just days ago, rap icon Future, also known Nayvadius Wilburn,
tweeted the tracklist to his 20 song album the Wzrd. The tweet
blew up all over social media after being shared thousands of
times. The tweet was posted on Jan. 17 and the album released
the following day. The album had features from some of the
hottest artists in hip hop today.

“The album is a statement by Future,” senior Abu El-Sadeg
said. “People believed he was falling off but this put him
back on top without a doubt.”

El-sadeg, a Future enthusiast, believes that this album is
going to be that best rap album of 2019 although it is too
soon to tell due to the release being recent.

However, the belief that the Atlanta native rapper, Future has
been falling off the map was not incorrect. According to
Complex, the combined sales of Future’s last two albums,
“FUTURE” and “HNDRXX,” was less than his platinum album “Dirty
Sprite 2”

“The Wizrd” has already topped the charts and has sold 130,000
units and over 12,000 hard copies in just its first weekend
out. That number already closing in on the combined amount
sold by Future’s two previous albums.

“Of Course I bought the album,” El-Sadeg said. “Future is the
greatest rapper of all time in my opinion and I support him.”
El-Sadeg along with many others believe that this is Future’s
best album to date and will help him regain his crown in the
Hip-Hop industry and put him on the same status as notable
rappers such as Drake and Travis Scott who have been
consistently headlining national charts.

The album was not talked about by the rapper but was teased by
the dropping of his single, “Crushed Up.” The single made it

onto the Billboard Top 100 and was later topped by another
song on the album, “First Off,” which features superstar
artist Travis Scott.

“It is textbook for a rapper who feels like he or she is
falling off to feature a rapper that us ‘on top’ when trying
to get back on top. This was a smart move by Future” said
Elsadeg.

Future also featured his longtime friend and rap artist Young
Thug, and upcoming artist Gunna on his track, “Unicorn Purp.”
“That song is simply just a bump,” El-Sadeg said. “There is no
way else to describe it. Simple a banger.”

The album starts relatively mellow and slows with the track
“Never Stop,” which is unlike any other Future album. This
demonstrates Future’s attempting to step out of his comfort
zone by trying something, unlike his normal style.

The album is then contrasted by the next track, “Jumpin’ on a
Jet” which is more in-line with Future’s typical style of
hardcore rap with intense beats and a hard base.

The only features on the album are two of the last five songs
on the album. Future stated in a recent interview with Complex
that he “wanted to put them last because they would help with
sales but he really wanted to have this album to showcase his
talent and tell all the haters that he is still on top.”

Celebrity                              misconduct
continues
Public figures are looked to as ideal role models for the

youth and many individuals in society. Figures such as
professional basketball player LeBron James and actor Will
Smith fit this standard, but with the occurrence of recent
events, we have been exposed to the complete opposite.

The entertainment industry has been full of sexual misconduct
and it has been a reoccurring act since the late 20th century.
Big names like artists R. Kelly, 6ix9ine, Usher, soccer star
Cristiano Ronaldo, Harvey Weinstein, and many others have been
caught up with the law and facing legal repercussions
regarding sexual harassment.

So how common is sexual misconduct in Hollywood? Based on a
survey taken by USA Today, 94% of the 843 people surveyed say
they have experienced harassment or assault. It is a
frightening statistic that more and more people are becoming
aware of.
“Many women in today’s society are afraid to report abuse and
people don’t understand why and how hard it is for some
people,” senior Hlina Wondwossen said. “We fear that we will
receive criticism and backlash if we report it. People will
say we are trying to ruin someone’s career, but they actually
ruin it themselves.”

Of the people who do report their abusers, only 28% of the
women say no improvement was made in their workplace, giving
women another reason to keep quiet.

Harvey Weinstein, an American former film producer, was
alleged to have sexually harassed and assaulted a “large”
number of women, including actresses Rose McGowan and Ashley
Judd. Among the accusations are that he would force women to
massage him and watch him naked. He would also offer the women
exorbitant amounts of money in order for them to keep their
mouths shut. Allegations from over 13 more women were
published in the New Yorker magazine, which included three
accusations of rape which he strongly denies.

The sexual harassment and assault allegations against Harvey
Weinstein that shook Hollywood sparked women from other
industries to speak up, and it has reached beyond the U.S.
borders.

“The Weinstein Effect” is what people call it, with the
hashtag “#MeToo” used across social media. What does it mean?
It’s the movement that has rippled across the globe, where
women come forward to accuse famous and powerful men and
release decade-old accusations. From the UK all the way to
India, powerful government officials have lost their jobs due
to this movement.

Former R&B artist R. Kelly has been trending dramatically on
social media platforms the past few months. Similar to the
Weinstein accusations, women have spoken out regarding abuse
that they endured from the musician. Kelly’s alleged ex-
girlfriend spoke out to BBC news, referring to the “nasty,
degrading things” that he did to her in the year-long
relationship that they had a few years back. Kelly has a deep
history of allegations; he has been plagued by accusations
since the 1990s.
Back in 1994, Kelly, then 27, married 15-year old singer
Aaliyah, who had lied about her age claiming she was 18. The
marriage was declared invalid a year later in 1995.

In 2002, Kelly was charged with child pornography after
getting caught with a video of him having intercourse with a
14-year-old girl. The trial took place six years later which
caused controversy in the media. “I have lost all respect for
him after learning about all the nasty things that he’s done,”
senior Haley Moss said. “He is a monster in my eyes and there
is no reason for him to not be in jail.”

In 2017 he was accused of trapping six women in a sex cult. An
article published by BuzzFeed talks about Kelly allegedly
seducing young women. He basically took over their lives,
dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when

they sleep, and how they engage in sex when he records. In
2018, the victims of the cult spoke to the press, speaking on
how they were traumatized for life due to the actions that
Kelly performed.

Lifetime had their debut for the documentary series,
“Surviving R. Kelly”, on Jan. 3. In the series, women emerge
and share their stories with the world. They came forward with
new allegations about his sexual, mental, and physical abuse.
The show has made so much noise that R. Kelly is back under
investigation.

Daniel Hernandez, known as rapper 6ix9ine, has also recently
been caught up with the legal issues. He was sentenced to four
years of probation for his 2015 sexual misconduct case on
Sept. 18, 2018, on top of his attempted murder charge, which
is 32 years to life in prison. Videos emerged of Hernandez
committing numerous sexual acts on a 13-year-old girl at the
time of the incident.

“I believe that famous people are privileged and can basically
get away with anything these days,” senior Tahid Mamun said.
Hernandez was initially given a one to three-year sentence in
prison but was granted four years probation instead. This
happens with many famous names and people believe it’s because
of the money they can pay to keep themselves out of jail.

Abu Elsadeg isn’t your typical high school student. He wakes
up early, eats breakfast, goes to school, and works away on
the school’s yearbook. Then he rushes home, grabs his camera,
and drives to one of his favorite rapper’s private mansion
party.

This wasn’t always the case though. It all started last year,
when Elsadeg decided to invest in a professional camera.

“A lot of my close friends saw it as something to have fun
with,” Elsadeg said. “I could take tough flicks (pictures) of
them and get them a lot of likes on social media like my
friend Idris.”

By taking pictures of his friends first, Elsadeg was gaining
experience and having fun with photography at the same time.

Later on, when he felt like he had the necessary experience,
he began reaching out to smaller artists through Twitter
direct messages. After building his portfolio, he then direct
messaged big name rappers like WillThaRapper and Shy Glizzy
and impressed their managers with his work.

Shortly after, he was jumping backstage with Shy Glizzy and
snapping pictures, or having dinner with E Glizzy, a member of
Glizzy Gang and Shy Glizzy’s entourage.

One of Elsadeg’s pictures even got published to
WillThaRapper’s Instagram account, which has more than 50,000
followers. Elsadeg also received a free sweatsuit from Smiley
Glizzy’s brand, Jawara.

Throughout all his crazy experiences, Elsadeg remains humble.
He plans to photograph bigger rappers, and is currently in the
works with rapper Playboi Carti.

Annandale student pursues rap
career
From Astro Davis in 2015 to JuicyJad in 2018, Annandale has
welcomed an upcoming rapper in 2019, “TraeSantana.”

Known as Traimne Allen, he is currently a senior aspiring to
be an artist that not many people have seen or heard of
before. He currently has two songs that he has released on
SoundCloud, named “18” and “Explosion.”

“I believe that my songs are    very diverse and they have flows
that not many people are used    to hearing,” Allen explained. “I
think that having a different   flow than these other rappers is
good because people get tired   of the same old music.”

The artist might have just started releasing, but he was
introduced to music since his childhood. “I’ve been into music
since a young age and I have always tried making my own
music,” he said. “I could never finish making a song but after
my attempt I guess that’s when my barrier broke.”

Allen says that writing music is not as easy as it seems,
claiming that writing his song “Explosion” took him over three
hours to write. “I thought about giving up so many times
because I suffer from bipolar disorder, but I never gave up
and continued getting better at what I do,” Allen said.

On Nov. 20, 2018, Trae unfortunately attempted to commit
suicide due to severe depression, but he believes attempting
such a act changed him. “I believe if I never tried commiting
the act I would never be in this position of writing music,”
the rapper said. “I would’ve never found out how much music
can impact people emotionally. My biggest thing is to help

kids out there that suffered just like I did.”

However, no mental health professional would ever advocate a
suicide attempt as a form of inspiration for artistic
expression. According to the American Psychological
Association “National suicide prevention efforts have focused
on school education programs, crisis center hotlines and media
guidelines.” The APA states that suicide is never a good
option and any troubled adolescent contemplating such an act
should seek help immediately.

Allen says that after this event, when he was placed in
psychiatric hospital for three days, he had a lot of time to
think about music and reflect on his life, and what he was
going to do with it from that moment on. He also began to
write a song in order to put his thoughts to paper, and he
fell in love with the sounds and songs he was able to create
in his mind.

Allen’s musical inspirations range from artists such as
XXXTentacion,     Tyler   The  Creator,    and  JuiceWrld.
“XXXTentacion’s music is beautiful to me and I love the flow
that he creates,” he said. “JuiceWrld is another inspiration
because he writes music about heartbreak and I have been
heartbroken many times by females. Tyler The Creator is the
biggest inspiration on me in my opinion. As a kid I wrote a
song named ‘I’m Tyler’ based on him and I believe we are very
alike.”

Allen also said he is finding new ways to market his songs and
his projects, or create ideas for music videos.

He has most recently purchased a plan on Distrokid, which will
make his music available on all streaming platforms like Apple
Music, Spotify, and many more.

TraeSantana isn’t done yet, though. He has new songs that he
will be releasing soon on SoundCloud, called “Better Days”,

UCLA gymnast scores perfect
10   with  stunning   floor
routine
Twenty-one-year-old Katelyn Ohashi is an American gymnast who
has taken the world by storm with her Janet and Michael
Jackson inspired floor routine. She competed with her school
in the Collegiate Challenge competition in Anaheim, California
against Arizona State University at Pauley Pavilion on January
21st.

Ohashi was a four time member of the USA Gymnastics Junior
National Team and the winner of the 2013 American Cup where
she beat Simone Biles. Her outstanding acrobatic flips, dance
moves, and confidence got her a perfect score. It also got her
two minute floor routine viral, getting over 40 million views
and landing her on Good Morning America.

After feeling pressured and suffering from a fractured back
she made a tough and challenging decision to step away from
the Olympic sport back in 2015. She introduced herself to the
sport again by joining the UCLA’s Gymnastics program, led by
the fabulous choreographer and former ballet dancer Valorie
Kondos Field. There Ohashi rediscovered her passion for
gymnastics.

“It took me finding Miss Val, and UCLA, and having a different
goal and path to follow, to finally find joy and love within
the sport again,” Ohashi said.

Rae Sreemmurd may be coming
to an end
Slim Jxmmi posted a couple of tweets that made fans question
if they would be splitting apart and taking different paths.
But according to Billboard, Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi won’t be
splitting up and are still going to be doing music together.

Rumors began when Slim Jxmmi tweeted on January 12, 2019,
“Y’all still got ya mans swae y’all a be skraight.” He later
went on and posted, “Y’all won it’s a wrap. Not SremmLife.
I’m not Rae Sremmurd. I’m slim jxmmi and ima sink or swim by
myself.” After a while Jxmmi deleted his comments.

This confused fans and made them think that the two would be
splitting up until the official Rae Sremmurd Twitter account
tweeted, “Brothers gonna be brothers, it’s SREMMLIFE forever.”
Then Jxmmi replied in another since-deleted tweet,
“Noooosuuurrrr whoever tweeted this get off the Rae Srem
page.”

“When I saw these tweets, I didn’t want Rae Sremmurd to split
up, because I think they make better music together,”
sophomore Kristina Regmi said.

Swae Lee shared a tweet suggesting that Rae Sremmurd is for
life and that they were going to stick together. A tweet that
he shared on January 6, 2019, “I’m never leaving SremmLife
stop the speculation.”

When this news broke out, Trippie Redd went to DJ Akademiks
Instagram and commented, “He finally realized we only listen
to Swae parts.” This created beef and Slim Jxmmi went on to
Twitter and said, “Stay in a child’s place.” Trippie then went

to his Instagram story to stay, “@slimjxmmi music trash.”
Jxmmi responded, “You can’t fight @trippieredd.”

There is no reason for why Trippie Redd thought that it was
necessary to attack Jxmmi for wanting to get out of Rae
Sremmurd. But it can be predicted that Trippie did that,
because he needs someone else to beef with. In most of 2018,
he was beefing with Tekashi 6ix9ine.

“Trippie Redd probably wants to have beef with other people,
because he wants more people to listen to his music,”
sophomore Siryet Girma said.

Although it is unknown why Jxmmi would post about him and Lee
splitting and then saying that they wouldn’t; fans think that
they did this for attention, because maybe they want to drop
new music. He could have also tweeted that post, because of
all the artists that won’t be doing music anymore, such as Lil
Uzi Vert and Naz.

Golden Globes 2019 crown new
winners
The Golden Globes are held annually and presented to
individuals for outstanding achievement in film and
television. The 76th Golden Globe Awards was held on Jan. 6.
This year the event was hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg
live from The Beverly Hilton. Here are many of the notable
winners and nominees of the Golden Globes 2019:

“Bohemian Rhapsody” won for Best Motion Picture in the Drama
category.

Many were shocked that “Bohemian Rhapsody beat out “A Star Is
Born.” Graham King, the producer of the movie, worked for
years to create the production and release it in order to tell
the amazing story of Freddie Mercury. The story of the rise of
Queen frontman Freddie Mercury ended up winning the Golden
Globe.

“Thank you for showing us the power in embracing your true
self,” King said in honor to Mercury.

“Green Book” won for Best Motion Picture in the Musical or
Comedy category.

“Green Book” is about an unlikely bond between an African-
American pianist and an Italian-American bouncer in the Deep
South in 1962. The movie beat nominees “Crazy Rich Asians,”
“The Favourite,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” and “Vice.”

“Because we are still living in divided times, maybe more so
now than ever,” director Peter Farrelly said. “This movie is
for everybody.”

Glenn Close won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion
Picture in the Drama category.

Close accepted the best actress Golden Globe for her
performance in “The Wife.” Close beat her fellow nominees Lady
Gaga (“A Star Is Born”), Nicole Kidman (“Destroyer), Melissa
McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), and Rosamund Pike (“A
Private War”). After getting a standing ovation, the actress
gave an emotional speech.

“Women we’re nurturers, that’s what’s expected of us,” Close
said. “We have to say ‘I can do that, and I should be allowed
to do that.”

Rami Malek won Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion
Picture for the Drama category.

Malek was awarded for his performance as Queen’s Freddie

Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Malek beat nominees Bradley
Cooper (“A Star Is Born”), Willem Dafoe (“At Eternity’s
Gate”), Lucas Hedges (“Boy Erased”), and John David Washington
(“BlacKkKlansman”).

“The one thing we needed to do was celebrate Freddie Mercury
in this film,” Malek said. “Nothing was going to compromise us
and giving him the love and celebration he deserves.”

Olivia Colman won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion
Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.

Colman received an award for her performance in “The
Favourite.” Colman was named this year’s Best Actress in a
Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, beating the likes of Emily
Blunt (“Mary Poppins Returns”), Elsie Fisher (“Eighth Grade”),
Charlize Theron (“Tully”), and Constance Wu (“Crazy Rich
Asians”). She thanked Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone in her
acceptance speech.

“Every second of working with you girls was such a joy,”
Colman said.

Sandra Oh took home Best Performance by an Actress In A
Television Series for the Drama category.

Oh became the first Asian woman to host a major awards show
and to win multiple Globes. During her acceptance speech she
told her parents she loves them in Korean. Oh’s co-host, Andy
Samberg, was also very excited for her.

“They called her name and I was like, ‘Yeah!’ I started
crying. I was like, ‘She’s been working on this for the last
four days I’ve known her!’ I gave her boyfriend a big hug and
was like, ‘We did it!’” Samberg said.

“Shallow,” performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, won Best
Original Song for Motion Picture.

“Shallow” was performed in “A Star Is Born”and beat fellow

nominees “All The Stars” (“Black Panther”), “Girl In The
Movies” (“Dumplin’”), “Requiem For A Private War” (“A Private
War”), and “Revelation” (“Boy Erased”). It earned four Grammy
nominations, including song and record of the year. Gaga gave
a teary and emotional acceptance speech.

“As a woman in music, it is really hard to be taken seriously
as a musician and a songwriter… they lifted me up, they
supported me,” Gaga also said about her co-writers.

YouTube Rewind 2018 becomes
most disliked video
Every year YouTube releases a video called the “YouTube
Rewind”. YouTube Rewind is a recap of the year’s viral videos,
trends, music, etc. In each video there are a number of
YouTube personalities that are featured.

YouTube released “YouTube Rewind 2018” recently which featured
more than 100 YouTube stars and celebrities. But in the course
of six days “YouTube Rewind 2018” became the most disliked
video in YouTube history, beating “Baby” by Justin Bieber
featuring Ludacris . Currently, the video has 2.3 million
likes and approximately 13 million dislikes.

Viewers expected for there to be more relevant YouTubers,
music, and trends for that specific year given the purpose of
the video is to give a recap of the most popular occurrences
from the year. Unfortunately, many people believe that YouTube
failed that intention, which is the reason why the video did
so poorly.

“I didn’t even recognize most of the YouTubers in the video,”

sophomore Elsa Amurrio-Moya said, “They should have included
YouTubers that were the most relevant this year but instead
they included people that I don’t even know. I could name so
many that should have been included but weren’t.”

The absence of YouTube’s most popular creators, such as David
Dobrik, Felix “Pewdiepie” Kjellberg, and Shane Dawson caused
for viewers to be most disappointed. The Paul brothers, Jake
and Logan Paul were also notable absentees from the video.
Earlier this year, Logan Paul created so much controversy for
filming a suicide victim in Japan. The live boxing match
between Jake Paul and his YouTube rival KSI was popular and
got millions of views as well. Yet neither of these YouTubers
were included.

“I think they weren’t included because those videos didn’t
exactly look good for YouTube,” sophomore Davis Hernandez
said. “I think YouTube chose the people that they did for the
video only because they wanted to hide it’s ‘uglier’ side.”

Viewers posted their comments and complaints about the video.
One viewer said, “Every year YouTube just keeps getting
disconnected from its content creators.” Another viewer said:
“How can you be so out of touch with your audience?”

In the future, YouTube could move back to the more traditional
rewind videos amidst the backlash they received with the
release of this one.

Top 10 highest-paid Youtubers
People usually think that being a Youtuber isn’t a real job.
Youtubers are thought to not make a lot of money, but little
do people know that Youtubers can make millions of dollars in

a year.

The number one most paid Youtuber is Ryan ToysReview who is
eight years old. Ryan made $22 million and has more than 17
million subscribers on his YouTube account, where Ryan makes
videos of him reviewing toys. His most watched video was a
video that included huge Easter eggs and a bouncy house,
getting him over 1.6 billion views. His parents made his
channel in 2015, and his videos have gotten almost 26 billion
views all together. Last year, Forbes’ 2017 list said that he
made $11 million from his YouTube channel, which doubled this
year, and is most likely going to increase in future years,
because he made his own toys, which are now available in
Walmart. According to Forbes, which is an American magazine,
all Ryan’s money came from advertisements that played in
between his videos, except for $1 million. The amount of money
that Ryan makes doesn’t include taxes or any types of fees.

“I didn’t think that a kid smaller than me was making that
much money,” sophomore Kristina Regmi said.

The second most paid Youtuber is Jake Paul. Jake Paul is the
younger brother of Logan Paul who is a controversial Youtuber.
Paul made $21.5 million, has more than 17 million subscribers
and over five billion views. Paul used to make vlogs every
single day but took a break and now makes videos. Before Paul
became a Youtuber he made Vine videos, which were six seconds
long. Paul gained even more fame a couple of years later where
he played the role of Dirk on the Disney Channel show
“Bizaardvark.” He then became a Youtuber and gained even more
fame and supporters. In August more than 800,000 people paid
money to watch him and Deji Olatunji have a boxing match. Both
are Youtubers and not professional boxers. Paul won the fight
and said that there would be a rematch soon, and that he was
happy to have taught Olatunji a lesson.

The third most paid Youtuber is Dude Perfect, which have over
six billion views and 36 million subscribers. The group

consists of twins Coby and Cory Cotton, Garrett Hilbert, Cody
Jones, and Tyler Toney, which are all former high school
basketball players and college roommates at Texas A&M
University. They made a total of $20 million. Many of their
“ping pong trick shots” and real-life trick shots,” videos
almost all the time go on trending. They turn activities that
people do every day into a more exciting and fascinating way.

The fourth most paid Youtuber is Daniel Middleton. He is known
by his YouTube name DanTDM and is a British gamer. DanTDM made
$18.5 million, has over 20.6 million subscribers, and over
13.9 billion views. Not only does he make money from gaming,
but he goes on tour and has a merchandise line. He makes
videos about a lot of games, but mainly makes them about
Minecraft.

The fifth most paid Youtuber is Jeffree Star. Star first
gained his fame from Myspace, which is a social media website
that was created in 2003.     Star made $18 million and his
YouTube channel has over 11 million subscribers and over one
billion views. Star published music videos and makeup
tutorials in his early years of YouTube. Star has since made
Jeffree Star cosmetics, which sells $100 million worth of
items per year.

The sixth most paid Youtuber is Markiplier who is another
gamer. He made $17.5 million, has over 22 million subscribers
and over 10 billion views. He is 29 years old and his real
name is Mark Edward Fischbach. Markiplier is known for his
“Let’s Play” videos, which he lets viewers comment on-screen
as he’s playing games. He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2014 to
talk about what he does and how he does it.

The seventh most paid Youtuber is Evan Fong who is another
international gamer. He is better known for his YouTube name
VanossGaming. He made $17 million, has over 23 million
subscribers and over 10 billion views. Most of his videos are
him playing popular video games and collaborating with other

Youtubers, while he makes funny comments.

The eight most paid Youtuber is Jacksepticeye. He made $16
million, has over 20 million subscribers and over 1- billion
views. He is 28 years old and his real name is Sean McLaughlin
and is the most popular Youtuber in Ireland. Most of his
videos are of him commentating while he plays games.

The ninth most paid Youtuber is PewDiePie. He made $15.5
million, has over 74 million subscribers and over 19 billion
views. PewDiePie has gotten a lot of hate for make racist and
anti-Semitic videos in 2017. He was caught laughing in a video
of two men holding up a sign saying, “Death to all Jews,” and
used the n-word in his livestream. He’s a Swedish creator and
his real name is Felix Kjellberg.

The tenth most paid Youtuber is Logan Paul. He is the older
brother of Jake Paul who is second on this list. Paul maked
$14.5 million, has over 18 million subscribers and over four
billion views. Before his fame he made videos on Vine, just
like Jake Paul. Early this year, Paul posted a video of a
person hanging in a forest in Japan. He lost ad revenue, got
suspended from YouTube for violating the policies, and Youtube
shut down his merch links which were in his videos. He
apologized many times for posting that type of content. In
August, he had a boxing fight with KSI who is another
Youtuber, and Jake Paul fought KSI’s younger brother. The

“Dummy Boy” makes its way up
on Billboard Top 200
Days before “Dummy Boy” was released Daniel Hernandez
otherwise known as his stage name, Tekashi 6ix9ine was
arrested November 19, 2018. He is a Brooklyn rapper and is
known for his rap songs that have been on the R&B/hip-hop
billboard charts. In one year, he had 10 of his rap songs on
the billboards, which hasn’t been done by a new artist. His
biggest single was FEFE featuring Nicki Minaj, which was
charted third on the billboard charts.

Hernandez and five others that were his associates were
arrested, because of racketeering and firearm charges. These
people consisted of his former manager Kifano ‘Shottie”
Jordan, bodyguard Faheem “Crippy” Walter, and associates
Jensel “Ish” Butler, Fuguan “Fu Banga” Lovick, and Jamel “Mel
Murda” Jones, which were all recently fired by Hernandez.

Hernandez is being held without bail and is being charged with
six counts in an eight-count racketeering charge. Two of his
counts are a maximum of life in prison. At the Manhattan
courtroom lawyers said that two of his former associates were
trying to kill him. A judge set his trial to September 4,
2019.

The day before he was    arrested, the FBI and the police picked
up Hernandez and said    that they think that someone is trying
to kill him and that     he needs to come with them. Hernandez
declined the offer of    24-hour protection and signed a waiver
so that he could leave   and go home.

The record company was supposed to originally release “Dummy
Boy” on November 23, 2018 but was postponed because of
6ix9ine’s legal issues. “Dummy Boy” was leaked, but it is
unknown how it was leaked.

Many say that it was leaked by Murda Beatz, who helped him
make FEFE. On Instagram, Murda Beatz uploaded a picture of the
album cover and on the caption was questioning if he should
release it, since he had the album.

“Murda Beatz posted the “Dummy Boy” album cover on Instagram
and was about to release it and he might’ve leaked it, but he
deleted it afterwards,” sophomore Kristina Regmi said.

“Dummy Boy” was released on November 27, 2018 and has 13 songs
on the album. The songs feature Bobby Shmurda, who is
currently in jail, Nicki Minaj, Murda Beatz, Lil Baby, Tory
Lanez, Kanye West, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Anuel AA, Gunna, DJ
SpinKing, and Trife Drew.

6ix9ine’s album outsold Travis Scott’s “Astroworld.” Many
listeners said that it wasn’t a surprise, because of all his
previous songs that were on the billboard charts.

“Many of 6ix9ine’s songs have been on the billboard charts, so
I was kind of expecting this to happen,” sophomore siryet
Girma said.

Offset is harassing Cardi
Cardi B performed at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles
on Dec. 15 and got a surprise visit on stage by her ex Offset,
one of the members of the hip hop group Migos. He confidently
walked up on stage with a bouquet of flowers and cakes that
said “Take me back Cardi.” Offset was quick with his apology
to Cardi and asking her to take him back, but Cardi was even
quicker at rejecting him and getting him off her stage.

The Rolling Loud Festival is the largest Hip-Hop festival in

the world. It takes place for a period of three days. Some of
the biggest artists have performed there, like Kendrick Lamar,
Travis Scott and Post Malone. Cardi was the first woman to
headline the Rolling Loud Festival making history, but instead
of having her shining moment all to herself Offset took the
spotlight.

Cardi and Offset got married Sep. 20 of last year and have a
daughter, who was born July 20 named Kulture.

Early December Cardi posted an Instagram video announcing that
she and Offset have split up. “We got a lot of love for each
other but things just haven’t been working out between us for
a long time,” Cardi said.

Since the video went up, Offset has tried to get back with
Cardi multiple times. He continuously lets all his Twitter
followers know how much he misses his wife. “Even though
Offset interrupted her concert I feel like Cardi should take
him back because he is trying hard to win her back and Cardi
seemed happier with him,” sophomore Elsa Amurrio said.

Some of Cardi’s fans have been attacking Offset on social
media. However Cardi posted two Instagram videos after the
Rolling Loud Festival asking her fans to stop attacking
Offset.

“He should have let their personal lives be personal and not
display it in front of everyone and if Offset really loved
Cardi he wouldn’t have taken her moment away,” freshman
Stephanie Manco said.

Whether or not Cardi does take Offset back their millions of
fans are watching their development.

People usually think that being a Youtuber isn’t a real job.
Youtubers are thought to not make a lot of money, but little
do people know that Youtubers can make millions of dollars in
a year.

The eight-year-old, Ryan Toys Reviews tops the list of highest
paid YouTubers. Ryan made $22 million and has more than 17
million subscribers on his YouTube account, where Ryan makes
videos of him reviewing toys. Ryan’s most watched video
included huge Easter eggs and a bouncy house, getting him over
1.6 billion views. Ryan’s parents made his channel in 2015,
his videos have gotten almost 26 billion views altogether.
Last year, Forbes’ 2017 list said that he made $11 million
from his YouTube channel, which doubled this year and is most
likely going to increase in future years. Ryan now makes his
own toys which are being sold in Walmarts. According to
Forbes, all Ryan’s money came from advertisements that played
in between his videos, except for $1 million. The amount of
money that Ryan makes doesn’t include taxes or any types of
fees.

“I didn’t think that a kid smaller than me was making that
much money,” sophomore Kristina Regmi said.

The second most paid Youtuber is Jake Paul. Paul made $21.5
million, has more than 17 million subscribers and over five
billion views. Before Paul became a Youtuber he made Vine
videos, which were six seconds long. Paul gained even more
fame a couple of years later where he played the role of Dirk
on the Disney Channel show “Bizaardvark.” Paul then became a
Youtuber and gained even more fame and supporters. In August
more than 800,000 people paid money to watch him and fellow
YouTuber, Deji Olatunji, fight in a boxing match. Paul won the

fight and said that there would be a rematch soon and that he
was happy to have taught Olatunji a lesson.

Dude Perfect comes in third on the list, the group has over
six billion views and 36 million subscribers. The group
consists of twins Coby and Cory Cotton, Garrett Hilbert, Cody
Jones, and Tyler Toney, which are all former high school
basketball players and college roommates at Texas A&M
University. They made a total of $20 million. Many of their
“ping-pong trick shots” and real-life trick shots,” videos
almost all the time go on trending. They turn activities that
people do every day into a more exciting and fascinating way.

The fourth most paid Youtuber is Daniel Middleton, better
known as DanTDM on YouTube. Middleton is a British gamer who
brought in about $18.5 million, has over 20.6 million
subscribers, and 13.9 billion views. Not only does he make
money from gaming, but he goes on tour and has a merchandise
line. Middleton plays a lot of games in his videos but mainly
posts about Minecraft.

Jeffree Star holds the fifth spot on the top paid YouTubers.
Star first gained his fame from Myspace, which is a social
media website that was created in 2003. Star made $18 million
in 2018 and his YouTube channel has over 11 million
subscribers and one billion views. Star published music videos
and makeup tutorials in his early years of YouTube. Star has
since made Jeffree Star cosmetics, which sells $100 million
worth of items per year.

The sixth most paid Youtuber is the 29-year-old Markiplier or
Mark Edward Fischbach, who posts gaming videos. Fischbach made
$17.5 million, has over 22 million subscribers and over 10
billion views. Markiplier is known for his “Let’s Play”
videos, which he lets viewers comment on-screen as he’s
playing games. Fischbach was on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2014 to
talk about his career and how he juggles his personal life and
gaming life.

Evan Fong who is an international gamer is seventh of the
list. Fong is better known for his YouTube name VanossGaming.
Fong made $17 million, has over 23 million subscribers and
over 10 billion views. Most of his videos are him playing
popular video games and collaborating with other YouTubers,
while he makes funny comments.

The eight most paid Youtuber is Jacksepticeye or Sean
McLaughlin, who is 28 years old and the most popular Youtuber
in Ireland. McLaughlin made $16 million, has over 20 million
subscribers and over 1- billion views. Most of his videos are
of him commentating while he plays games.

PewDiePie is ninth of the list, having made $15.5 million and
having over 74 million subscribers and over 19 billion views.
PewDiePie, otherwise known as Felix Kjellberg, has gotten a
lot of hate for making racist and anti-Semitic videos in 2017.
Kjellberg was caught laughing in a video of two men holding up
a sign saying, “Death to all Jews,” and used the n-word in his
live stream.

Tenth on the list is Logan Paul. Paul made $14.5 million, has
over 18 million subscribers and over four billion views.
Before his fame on YouTube, he made videos on Vine. Early this
year, Paul posted a video of a person hanging in a forest in
Japan. Paul was penalized by losing ad revenue, got suspended
from YouTube for violating the policies, and Youtube shut down
his merch links which were in his videos. In August, he had a
boxing match with YouTuber, KSI. The fight ended with a tie
and they both agreed to do a rematch.
