2.3 Unit components
MultiMAXX Vent VX unit heater is comprised of a fan. The casing is performed in
galvanized and painted metal sheet or stainless steel. The air discharge opening can
accommodate up to 12 different types of discharge louvres. A wide wing or sickle blade
fan is located in the fan casing on the rear side of the unit heater. The protection grille
prevents possible contact with the fan.
The unit rear side can be supplied with an attachment for mounting air intake accesso-
ries. The components that are made of non-ferrous metal and galvanized fixing parts
                                     are not protected by paint.
M8 nuts are riveted on the sides of the fan section (4 on each side) and are used to
secure the unit with brackets or suspensions on the wall or under the ceiling.

to the current EN 60079-14 standard and terminal diagrams with
consideration of all necessary protective measures.

5.2.2 Potential equalisation
Electrical conductive connection must be assured between all units and accessory
parts. Thermistors and overload protection must be activated.
Besides, the unit heater must be integrated in potential equalisation using the desig-
nated connection point. The earthing must be continuously ensured. The resistance
must not exceed max. 0.1 Ohm (refer to Fig. 5-1).
The potential equalisation between accessory parts must be performed using enclosed
screws, nuts and tooth lock washers.

6 Commissioning
RISK OF ACCIDENT DUE TO ELECTRICAL CURRENT!
Isolate all power supply connections of the unit heater and ensure the power cannot
                                   be inadvertently energised.

                                   DANGER OF ROTATING UNIT PARTS!
Wait to allow the fan rotational momentum to cease!

                                   NOTE!
Before commissioning ensure that the unit heater is clean e.g.:
                                   – Discharge louver
                                   – Filter

6.1 Per-commissioning requirements
                               – All mechanical and electrical systems of the unit heater have been installed.
                               – The MultiMAXX Vent VX unit is de-energised and isolated.

6.1.1 Initial commissioning:
                               • Main isolator must be in "Off" position and the unit must be secured against
                                    inadvertent energizing!
                               • Checking the unit:
                                    – Inspect the casing for damage.
                                    – Check painted surfaces for signs of damage.
                                    – Rotate the fan manually to check it turns in the proper direction; ensure even slit
width of the fan to confirm a stress-free installation. The slit width must amount
to at least 1 % of the impeller diameter.
                                    – Ensure free air passage on the air-side
                                    – Check faulty electrical connections
                                    – Check proper utilization of protective measures (thermostat)
                                    – Connection of potential equalisation
                                    – Electrical connection must be assured between unit and accessory modules
                               • Switch on the unit: (if necessary, set jumper for the remote switch contact, increase
temperature setpoint to activate the unit)
                               • Check the rotating direction; the rotating direction is correct, if circulated air is
                                    discharged from the outlet.
                               • Changing phases enables to swap rotating direction (e.g. L1 with L2)
                               • Measure current consumption and compare with the identification type plate.
                               • Adjust the discharge louver to the required air throw direction. The discharge
direction shall be set in such way as to prevent air draughts in the occupied zone.

6.2 Operation
Activation and deactivation of the unit is performed using the speed selection switch or
room thermostat or/and external remote switch.

6.2.1 Regulation of mixed air module
Regulation of the actuator of the mixed air module is performed by a control switch in
                               the control unit (e.g. 986811.3).

6.2.2 Secondary air louvre
The secondary air louvre of the unit heater directs conditioned air in the controlled
space. The regulation of the secondary air louvre sets the optimal discharge angle for
air flow (fan speed) under current temperature conditions. The occupation zone can be
air conditioned in a draught-free way, at the same time formation of indoor temperature
layers can be to a large extent prevented.
                                     – In manual mode secondary air louvres are adjusted manually (refer to Fig. 6-1)
